Forming Leaders

The transformation of faith formation structures is central to our mission. We have found that transitioning structures and approaches can be difficult without first hand experience. Mysterion is designed to lead small cohorts through a personal experience of the catechumenal process. Teams will experience the "what" through the use of Pathways materials and study the "why" drawn primarily from the new Directory for Catechesis. With a mix of in-person and virtual experiences, we hope for this to be accessible to many teams who would like to discover a new way forward. Teams will receive a rich formation in the faith and be equipped to form others in the catechumenal process.

The Hierarchy of Mystery

All of formation can be understood in the light of mystery, for the goal of formation is to spend eternity with Mystery itself. As a pyramid, it is built from the bottom up and represents the sequence for formation in mystery. It is not meant to be linear or compartmental, but rather ever expanding. The more robust the base becomes, the more what is above can be supported.

Reviews

The Mysterion Institute has been a life-changing experience that has reshaped my approach to ministry with parish leaders. We experienced the kerygma again (or for the first time) and explored the foundations of our Catholic faith from a different perspective which led to a renewed commitment to serving the Church. The small group cohort allowed for the opportunity to be vulnerable and supported by a community of peers who truly understand the joy, grief, struggle and hope that comes with ministry in the Church today.

Being able to participate in Mysterion this year has been a great blessing. To meet and learn from smart and caring people from the FFLCM team as well as others from across the country who all love Christ and are open to learning how to share our faith with families in new ways, has been uplifting. The small group breakouts were the best. Because our parishes and archdioceses/dioceses are all so very different, yet so very much the same, we are able to both identify with the similarities, yet also learn from diverse perspectives. One thing we all have in common...Our parish families are busy, so busy. It's like we are all hamsters running on a wheel and getting nowhere. But our goal is Heaven! The Mysterion program and staff have taught us how important it is for each of us, including the families we serve, to pause each week. The Seek and Root exercises and materials are fun and easy to use, and they enable people/families to intentionally pause and have meaningful faith-filled conversations about God and our journey towards Heaven.

This experience has been very faith forming for me. I really appreciate the team building aspect and relationship building in our small group. Most everything I have already "heard or learned" before, but now I am able to see it from many different directions and have the guidance to help others see it, as well. I definitely have greater confidence in sharing my faith.
